  1. 4 tb Vegetable oil

  2. 1/2 ts Cumin seeds

  3. 4 ea Garlic cloves, chopped

  4. 1 md Onion, chopped

  5. 1 c Lentils, washed and drained

  6. 3 c Water

  7. 1 ts Salt

  8. 1/4 ts Cayenne

  1. Heat oil over medium heat. When hot, add cumin seeds and let sizzle for a few seconds. Add the garlic and stir-fry till the garlic changes colour. Put in the onion and stir-fry until they begin to brown at the edges. Add the lentils and water. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for about an hour, or until the lentils are tender. Add salt and cayenne.
