  1. Blaukraut (Tante Be)

  2. 1/2 kg washed red cabbage

  3. 40 g butter

  4. 1 peeled onion stuck with

  5. 2 cloves

  6. 1 t salt

  7. 1 Tbs sugar

  8. 2-3 peppercorns

  9. 2 bay leaves

  10. 1 Tbs vinegar

  11. 1 cup water

  12. 1 apple peeled, cored, and quartered

  13. 1/2 - 1 Tbs flour (or cornstarch)

  14. Wash the cabbage and dice relatively finely. Wash it again once

  15. it's been diced. Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the

  16. cabbage to the melted butter, along with all the other ingredients

  17. except the flour and apple. Cook until tender. Add the quartered

  18. apple. Cook until the apple is soft, about 10 minutes, mixing

  19. occasionally. Mix the flour or cornstarch with a little water and add to the boiling broth to thicken (it can be more or less thick

  20. to your personal taste). Cook again once the flour has been added

  21. for about 10 minutes. Taste and add more salt if necessary.
