  6. 1/2 c Chopped onion

  7. 2 Garlic cloves, minced

  8. 1/2 c Drained canned Italian

  9. -tomatoes, chopped

  10. 8 oz Drained canned chick-peas,

  11. -reserve 1/2 c liquid

  12. 1/2 c Cooked macaroni

  13. -elbows, ditalini)

  14. 1 1/2 ts Shredded fresh basil

  15. -tsp dried)

  16. 1 ds Each salt and pepper

  17. Garnish: basil sprigs

  18. In 1-quart saucepan heat oil over medium heat; add

  19. onion and garlic and saute until onion is translucent.

  20. Add tomatoes and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let

  21. simmer for 5 minutes. Add chick-peas with reserved

  22. liquid and remaining ingredients; cook until heated.

  23. Serve garnished with basil sprigs.

  24. Makes 2 servings.
