  1. Dumpling s -

  2. 5 or 6 cups peeled and sliced fresh

  3. apple s or peaches

  4. 1 teaspoon lemon juice, if using peaches

  5. 3/4 cup sugar

  6. 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

  7. 1/2 cinnamon

  8. 1/4 stick butter

  9. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  10. 1 pie crust recipe

  11. Sauce -

  12. 1 cup sugar

  13. 2 teaspoon flour

  14. 1 cup water

  15. 1 teaspoon butter

  1. Dumplings -

  2. Make 1 recipe pie crust (or use refrigerated pie crust). Mix all dumpling ingredients until well blended. Roll out pie dough as thin as possible. Cut pie crust into approximately 5-inch x 5-inch squares. Place 2 tablespoons of fruit mixture in each square, place a small pat of butter on top and fold each square into an envelope shape. Place into 8 x 8-inch greased baking dish. Bake at 425 for 35 to 45 minutes. They should be golden brown.

  3. Sauce - Bring all ingredients to a boil, stirring constantly.

  4. Place a dumpling onto individual dessert plates and spoon sauce over each one. Serve warm and with ice cream, if desired.
