  1. 1/2 lb. extra lean ground beef

  2. 15 oz. can great Northern beans,drained,rinsed*

  3. 1/4 c. finely crushed saltine crackers

  4. 2 T. barbecue sauce

  5. 1/4 teas. pepper

  6. 1 egg Leaf lettuce

  7. 5 whole grain hamburger buns,split

  8. 5 teas. barbecue sauce Sliced tomato and onion *NOTE: Try othe beans susch as black or kidney or pinto for a change

  1. Heat grill.(In winter I use George Formann Grill) In a large bowlmix beef,beans,cracker crumbs,2 T. barbecue sauce,pepper and egg. Shape into 5 patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Brush grill rack with vegetable oil. Place patties on grill. Cover grill; cook over medium heat 5 minutes. Turn; cook covered 5-6 minutes longer or until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160^. Place lettuce and patties on bottom 1/2 of buns. Spread each patty with barbecue sauce. Top with tomato and onion. Cover with bun tops. Eat them up!
