  1. 6 slices Swiss Cheese

  2. 1 lb Fresh Lean Hamburger

  3. 1/2 cup Seasoned Fine Dry Bread Crumbs

  4. 1 tsp Each Salt & Pepper , or to taste

  5. Olive Oil

  6. 8-10 Crimini Mushrooms , sliced

  7. 1 Large White Onion , sliced

  8. 4 Hamburger Buns , split

  9. 4 Crisp Lettuce Leaves

  1. Finely chop 2 of the slices of Swiss cheese; set remaining 4 slices aside. Place hamburger, chopped Swiss, bread crumbs, salt and pepper in a medium bowl; mix well.

  2. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Add a little olive oil. Add mushrooms and onion slices, keeping onion slices intact. Do not salt at this point. Cook and turn as needed until browned, then set aside. Form meat into 4 patties. Grill or reuse mushroom skillet to fry burgers to desired doneness. If desired, toast buns while cooking the patty. Start assembling burgers by adding a lettuce leaf to bottom bun. Continue with meat, onion slice, mushrooms, a pinch of salt, and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with other bun half and serve.
