  2. 2 cups of celery cut in 1/2-inch pieces

  3. 1 bay leaf

  4. 1 tablespoon flour

  5. 1 tablespoon butter

  6. 1 cup Parmesan cheese

  7. 1 cup of buttered crumbs

  8. 1 pint of cream or milk

  9. Salt and pepper

  1. Cook the celery in the milk for half an hour, then drain.

  2. Make a sauce with the flour, butter, the milk the celery was boiled in, the bay leaf and the seasoning.

  3. When well cooked remove the bay leaf and add the cheese.

  4. Put into a buttered baking dish the boiled celery, then cover well with the sauce, sprinkle over the buttered crumbs, and set in the oven to brown.
