  1. 2 medium russet potatoes

  2. 1 medium onion

  3. 1 egg

  4. 3 tablespoons flour One-half teaspoon baking powder Salt and pepper to taste

  1. Grate the potato and onion together. Add the egg and other ingredients, mixing well. Fry heaping tablespoons of the mixture in a blend of schmaltz and Crisco. Serve with sour cream and/or applesauce. Makes 4 to 6
