Oma's Texas Chocolate Cake

    1. 1/2 cup shortening

    2. 1 cup water

    3. 4 T. cocoa

    4. 2 cups sugar

    5. 2 cups flour

    6. 1 teaspoon cinnamon

    7. 1 teaspoon baking soda

    8. 1 cup milk w/ vinegar--

    9. 1 T.

    10. 2 egg s, beaten Icing

    11. 1 stick butter

    12. 6 T. cocoa

    13. 6 T. milk

    14. 1 box powdered sugar

    15. 1 cup pecan

    1. Cake Bring shortening, butter, water and cocoa to a boil in medium saucepan. Add the sugar, cinnamon, flour and baking soda. Mix that and add the milk/ vinegar mixture and eggs. Pour the cake into a 13-by-17 pan, floured and greased. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°. Icing Bring the butter, milk and cocoa to a boil. Add the sugar and pecans. Spread on the cake while still warm.
