  1. 1 1/2 cups dried lima beans

  2. 1 largish fennel bulb

  3. 2 cloves garlic

  4. 1/2 onion

  5. salt to taste

  6. 1/2 cup vegetable broth

  1. Bring limas to boil and cook till tender. Add the broth towards the end of cooking.

  2. Chop onion, garlic and fennel and sauté till just caramelized. Add beans and fennel mixture to the blender and pureé till very smooth.

  3. Add water to desired consistency if needed.
