  1. 1/2 cup butter, softened

  2. 4 eggs

  3. 1 can (16 ounces) chocolate syrup

  4. 1 cup all-purpose flour

  5. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  6. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  7. 1/2 cup chopped nuts

  8. GLAZE:

  9. 1 cup sugar

  10. 1/3 cup milk

  11. 1/3 cup butter, cubed

  12. 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

  13. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Rich Chocolate Cake Bars Recipe photo by Taste of Home In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat in syrup. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour in a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan.

  2. Bake at 350° for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

  3. For glaze, in a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, milk and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat; boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat. Add chips and vanilla; beat with a wooden spoon until smooth. Spread over warm bars. Cool on a wire rack before cutting. Yield: about 3 dozen.
