  1. Place sliced onion in medium size bowl, pour vinegar and water over onion.

  2. Stir in sugar or Splenda and season to taste with kosher salt.

  3. Let stand until slightly pickled - about 30 minutes. Drain and serve or store in plastic container for a few days.
