  1. 1 1/2 cups 355ml Water

  2. 1 cup 237ml Orange juice

  3. 1/3 cup 78ml Orange marmalade

  4. 16 oz 454g Mixed dried fruit - (2 bags)

  5. 1 cup 62g / 2 1/5oz All-purpose flour

  6. 1 teaspoon 5ml Baking powder

  7. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Ground cinnamon

  8. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Baking soda

  9. 1 Ground cloves

  10. 1/3 cup 65g / 2 1/3oz Chilled stick margarine

  11. 2 tablespoons 30ml Skim milk

  12. 2 tablespoons 30ml Molasses

  13. 1 tablespoon 15ml Orange marmalade

  14. 2 teaspoons 10ml Water

  1. Combine the first 4 ingredients in a 2-quart baking dish; stir well. Bake at 400F for 30 minutes.

  2. Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and cloves in a bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

  3. Combine milk and molasses, and add to the flour mixture, stirring just until the dry ingredients are moistened.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead 5 or 6 times. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness, and cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter into 10 biscuits. Remove the fruit mixture from oven, and arrange biscuits on top of hot fruit mixture. Bake an additional 20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden.

  5. Combine 1 tablespoon marmalade and 2 teaspoons water in a bowl; brush over biscuits.

  6. Serving Ideas : Serve warm.
