  1. 2 cans (10 1/2-oz) beef broth

  2. 1 1/2 can Water

  3. 1 can (12-oz) vegetable juice cocktail

  4. 2 tablespoons Soy sauce

  5. 3 tablespoons Vinegar

  6. teaspoon Pepper

  7. cup Thinly sliced carrots

  8. cup Chopped green beans

  9. cup Chopped cooked chicken

  10. 3 Eggs; beaten

  1. Perhaps I should have featured this one before Christmas to show a proper happy frame of mind, though the title does have some obscure derivation.

  2. More to the point, it is a whimsical, but quick version of a flavorful chicken- vegetable soup.

  3. Combine all ingredients, except eggs. Bring to a boil, then hold at a simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir in beaten eggs. Serve at once to 6 or 8 with salty crackers or with the following "doodles" which seem correspondingly whimsical (see recipe for "Fantasy Fries" in this cookbook).
