  1. 1/2 cup chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves

  2. 2 large papads, torn into small pieces

  3. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)

  4. 1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

  5. 1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)

  6. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

  7. 1 tsp coriander (dhania) powder

  8. 1/2 tsp chilli powder

  9. 1 tsp sugar

  10. 1 tbsp oil

  11. salt to taste

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida.

  2. Add the fenugreek leaves and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes.

  3. Add the turmeric powder, coriander seed powder, chilli powder, sugar, salt and 1½ cups of water. Bring to a boil.

  4. Add the papads and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

  5. Serve hot.
