  1. 300g frozen blackberries

  2. 300g frozen raspberries

  3. cup (55g) sugar

  4. cup (60ml) water

  5. 1-2 tablespoons arrowroot or cornflour (see tip)

  6. cup (40g) toasted flaked almonds

  7. Low-fat natural yogurt, to serve

  1. Bring berries and sugar to boil in a medium saucepan, stirring occasionally.

  2. Combine 1 tablespoon arrowroot or cornflour with water in a small bowl. Add to berry mixture and stir on low, until mixture thickens slightly. If necessary, thicken more by adding another tablespoon of arrowroot and extra water.

  3. Cool and spoon into individual serving dishes or glasses. Sprinkle with almonds and serve with yogurt.

  4. Tip: The more juice obtained, the more arrowroot needed, depending on consistency required.
