  1. 1 c. mashed ripe bananas (about 2 med.)

  2. 2/3 c. packed brown sugar

  3. 1/4 c. vegetable oil

  4. 2 eggs

  5. 2 c. Bisquick baking mix

  6. 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice

  7. 1/2 c. chopped nuts

  8. Browned Butter Frosting (below)

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease rectangular pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Beat bananas, brown sugar, oil and eggs in large bowl on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 1 minute. Stir in baking mix, pumpkin pie spice and nuts. Spread in pan. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Cool, frost with Browned Butter Frosting. Cut into bars, about 3 x 1 inch.

  3. BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING:

  4. Heat 1/4 cup butter over low heat until golden brown; remove from heat. Beat in:

  5. c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons water until smooth.

  6. APPLESAUCE-SPICE BARS: Substitute 1 cup applesauce for the bananas.

  7. High Altitude Directions (3500 to 6500 feet) : Heat oven to 375 degrees. Decrease brown sugar to 1/2 cup and baking mix to 1 3/4 cups; add 1/4 cup Gold Medal all-purpose flour.
