Ingredients Jump to Instructions ↓

  1. 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (half of a 17 1/4-ounce package)

  2. 1 egg , lightly beaten

  3. 4 squares (1 ounce each) semi-sweet baking chocolate

  4. 2 tablespoon(s) milk

  5. 1 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter or margarine

  6. 1/2 cup(s) chopped walnuts

  7. 2 tablespoon(s) confectioners' sugar

Instructions Jump to Ingredients ↑

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Thaw pastry sheet at room temperature 30 minutes. Mix egg with 1 tablespoon water in small bowl; set aside. Microwave chocolate, milk, and butter in medium microwavable bowl on high 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, or until chocolate is almost melted, stirring after 1 minute. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

  2. Unfold pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface and roll out into a 12" x 16" rectangle. Spread chocolate mixture evenly over pastry sheet to within 1 1/2 inches of edges. Sprinkle walnuts over chocolate. Starting at one of the short sides, roll up pastry sheet, jelly-roll-style, and place it seam-side down on an ungreased baking sheet. Tuck ends under to seal and brush with egg mixture.

  3. Bake 35 minutes, or until pastry is golden brown. Cool 30 minutes on baking sheet on wire rack. To serve, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and cut into 8 slices.
