  1. 1 c Brown sugar

  2. 1 c Water

  3. 2 tb Shortening

  4. 1 c Raisins

  5. 1/2 ts Salt

  6. 1 ts Baking soda

  7. 1 ts Cinnamon

  8. 1/2 c Flour

  9. 1/2 ts Ginger

  1. In a pot, combine the sugar, water, raisins, shortening and salt. Stir over a gentle heat until the sugar and shortening has melted. Raise heat and bring to a boil, stirring continuously. Simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and cool.

  2. Sift dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Add the cooled mixture and mix well.

  3. Drop by the teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes.
