  1. Burnt Sugar Cake With Burnt Sugar Frosting

  2. 1/2 cup sugar

  3. 1/2 cup boiling water

  4. 1 1/2 cups sugar

  5. 2/3 cup butter

  6. 2 beaten egg whites

  7. 1 cup cold water

  8. 3 cups flour, or 2 1/2 if using a mixer

  9. 1 Tsp. baking soda

  10. 1 Tsp. vanilla

  11. 1 cup sugar

  12. 1 cup cream

  13. 1 Tsp salt

  14. Burn 1/2 C sugar in skillet, stir constantly. Add boiling water

  15. (SLOWLY) and boil to a syrup, then set aside. Cream sugar and butter; add cold water and beat thoroughly. Add flour and baking

  16. soda and mix. Add sugar syrup and beat. Fold in beaten, but not

  17. dry egg whites and vanilla. Mix well and pour into (greased and 350F preheated oven for 30-40 minutes.

  18. Mix sugar and cream in skillet and cook to a caramel consistency.

  19. Add salt and beat to a beautiful caramel.
