  1. 2 envelopes dry yeast

  2. 6 cups flour

  3. 1 tablespoon sugar

  4. 2 teaspoons salt

  5. 2 cups skim milk

  6. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

  7. 1/2 cup water

  8. 1/4 cup cornmeal

  1. Preheat oven to 400. Grease 2 loaf pans and sprinkle well with cornmeal.

  2. In a large bowl, mix 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt & soda. Heat liquids to very warm and add to dry ingredients. Then beat well. Stir in remaining 3 cups of flour then spoon into prepared loaf pans. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal.

  3. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes. Test these for doneness by tapping tops - when they sound "hollow" they're done. Remove from pans immediately and cool on rack. To serve, slice and toast.
