  1. Simmer apples and water on stove-top for 15-25 minutes. Mash with a potato masher. Stir in honey and cinnamon. Mix topping ingredients in a small bowl until crumbly. Mix dry batter ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix wet ingredients. Combine. Pour 1/2 of batter into a greased 8x8 pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of the crumble topping. Pour on remaining batter and top with remaining crumble. Bake 20-25 minutes at 350*. Cool 10 minutes before cutting and serving. Yield: serves 16 Notes: Serve warm or cold for breakfast. This can also be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an easy dessert.
