  1. 1 lb extra lean ground beef

  2. 1 c onion

  3. 2/3 c barley -- uncooked

  4. 2 c beef broth

  5. 2 tsp oregano -- fresh

  6. 1/4 tsp salt

  7. 1/4 tsp black pepper

  8. 1 16 oz whole tomatoes

  9. 8 oz waterchestnuts, sliced

  10. 1 c carrot -- sliced

  11. 1 c green pepper -- chopped

  12. 350F. Cook beef and onion. Mix with remaining ingredients and place in

  13. 3 quart casserole dish. Cover and bake for 1 hour or until barley is tender.
