  1. 4 cups chicken broth

  2. 1 cup water

  3. 1 cup chopped onion

  4. 1 cup sliced carrots

  5. 1/2 cup sliced celery

  6. 1 1/2 oz uncooked barley

  7. 1/2 tsp. crushed dried thyme leaves

  8. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric -- optional

  9. 12 oz cubed cooked chicken

  10. 1 tbsp parsley

  11. 30 to 40 minutes or until barley is tender. Add chicken and parsley. Cook until thoroughly heated.

  12. Serves 4 (1-1/2 -cup servings)
