  2. MEAT SAUCE FOR SPAGHETTI

  7. 3 tb Olive oil

  8. 1 lb Ground beef

  9. 1 lb Ground pork

  10. 1 Onion -- chopped

  11. 1/2 Green pepper -- chopped

  12. 3 Cloves garlic -- minced

  13. 5 c Crushed tomatoes

  14. 1/4 c Tomato paste

  15. 1 tb Chili powder

  16. 2 ts Basil leaves, ground

  17. 1/2 ts Ground cloves

  18. 3 Bay leaves

  19. 2 c Chicken stock

  20. 1/2 ts Salt

  21. 1/4 ts Cayenne pepper

  22. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef, pork,

  23. onion, green pepper, and garlic and saute until browned, about 10 minutes.

  24. With a slotted spoon to drain off the fat, place the sauteed ingredients in

  25. a 4-quart saucepan. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Slowly

  26. bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours.
