  1. 1/2 cup 99g / 3 1/2oz Shortening

  2. 1 cup 198g / 7oz Sugar

  3. 5 Egg yolks

  4. 2 1/4 cups 140g / 4.9oz Cake flour - sifted

  5. 3/4 teaspoon 3.8ml Salt

  6. 2 teaspoons 10ml Baking powder

  7. 3/4 cup 177ml Milk

  8. 1 teaspoon 5ml Vanilla extract Confectioners' sugar

  1. Recipe Instructions Cream the shortening and beat in the sugar. Add one yolk at a time, beating after each addition. Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder and add to batter, alternating with the milk. Beat in the vanilla. Grease a 10-inch loaf pan and dust it lightly with flour. Pour the batter into it. Bake in a 350 degree oven 1 hour or until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool on a cake rack. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
