  1. for Baked Apple Dumpling Recipe 1

  2. Tart apples

  3. 1/4 teaspoon of salt

  4. 3 tablespoons of butter

  5. 3 tablespoons of cold water

  6. 1 egg (this may be omitted if desired)

  7. 1 1/2 cups of pastry flour

  8. 3/4 cup of milk (scant measure)

  9. 3 teaspoons of baking powder

  1. Butter an agate baking dish.

  2. Slice the tart apples into the dish to fill it to the top.

  3. Add a dash of salt and the cold water.

  4. Make a soft biscuit dough of the other ingredients and spread it over the apples.

  5. Bake in a hot oven for about 25 minutes.

  6. Invert the dish, so as to have the apples on the top.

  7. Serve hot with butter and sugar or syrup. .
