  1. French bread , sliced diagonally 1" thick

  2. Italian salad dressing

  3. tomato slice, 1/2" thick

  4. red onion slice (or separated rings)

  5. mozzarella cheese slice

  6. salt and freshly-ground pepper

  1. Lay bread slices out flat on a cookie sheet. Drizzle on dressing (heavily for a soggy bread, lightly for crispier bread). Place tomatoes, onions, mozzarella, then S&P.

  2. Bake at 375° until cheese melts, about 15-20 minutes. Serve with fork and knife, or tackle it with your hands.
