  1. Panforte di Siena (Sweetmeat from Siena)

  2. 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  3. 1/2 cup honey

  4. 1/2 cup sifted all purpose flour

  5. 2 Tbsp cocoa

  6. 1 Tbsp cinnamon

  7. 2 4 oz. cans diced preserved mixed fruit

  8. 2 Tbsp diced citron

  9. 3/4 cup toasted, shelled almonds

  10. 1-1/4 cup toasted, shelled filberts

  11. 1 Tbsp grated orange rind

  12. confectioner's sugar

  13. 275 degrees F. Butter

  14. 10" pie plate. In saucepan,

  15. combine sugar and honey; cook over low heat 15 min., stirring

  16. constantly. Sift flour, cocoa, cinnamon; stir into honey mixture.

  17. Stir in preserved fruit, citron, nuts and orange rind. Quickly turn

  18. mixture into pie plate. Bake 30 min or until firm. Cool. Dust

  19. thickly with confectioners' sugar. Cut into pie shaped wedges.

  20. Serve as dessert or candy. Serves 12
