  2. 1/2 cup butter

  3. 5 teaspoons baking powder

  4. 2 cups sugar

  5. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  6. Yolks 4 eggs

  7. Whites 4 eggs

  8. 1 cup milk

  9. 4 squares chocolate

  10. 2 2/3 cups flour

  11. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Cream the butter, and add gradually one-half the sugar.

  2. Beat yolks of eggs until thick and lemon-colored, and add gradually remaining sugar.

  3. Combine mixtures, and add alternately milk and flour mixed and sifted with baking powder and salt; then add whites of eggs beaten stiff, chocolate melted, and vanilla.

  4. Bake forty-five to fifty minutes in an angel cake pan.

  5. Cover with White Mountain Cream.
