  10. 60 Marachino cherries -- w/stem

  11. 3 tablespoons Butter or margarine -- softened

  12. 3 tablespoons Light corn syrup

  13. 1/4 teaspoon Salt

  14. 2 cups Confectioner's sugar -- sifted

  15. 1 1/2 pounds Dipping chocolate or white -- chocolate

  16. Drain marachino cherries thoroughly, Place on paper toweling. Combine

  17. butter or margarine, corn syrup and salt. Stir in sifted confectioner's

  18. sugar. Knead sugar mixture until smooth ( chill if mixture is too soft.)

  19. Shape 1 teaspoon of the sugar mixture around each cherry. Place on a

  20. waxed-paper-lined baking sheet, chill.

  21. In a small, heavy saucepan, melt chocolate, stirring constantly. DO NOT

  22. ADD ANY LIQUID! Holding cherries by stems, dip one at a time into chocolate. Spoon chocolate over cherries to coat. Chill until chocolate is

  23. hardened.

  24. Store candy in a covered container in a cool place.
