  4. 3/4 teaspoon powdered cinnamon

  5. 1 teaspoon powdered ginger

  6. 1 egg

  7. 1/2 yeast cake Flour

  8. 1/4 cup chopped candied citron peel

  9. 1/2 cup seeded raisins

  10. 1 cup scalded milk

  11. 1/4 cup lukewarm water

  1. Instructions Add vegetable shortening, sugar, and salt to milk. When lukewarm, add yeast cake dissolved in water. Add spices, well beaten egg, and sufficient flour to make a stiff dough. Mix well, add raisins and peel, cover, and let rise over night. In morning, divide into pieces and form into neat buns; place in vegetable shorteninged pan one inch apart, let rise. Brush over with milk or beaten egg, and bake at 400 degrees for twenty-five minutes. Cool and, with ornamental frosting, make a cross on each bun. The cross may be made by placing strips of paste on buns before they are baked. Sufficient for twenty buns. .
