  1. Treacle Tart

  2. Shortcrust pastry

  3. 2 cups Golden syrup

  4. 1 cup fresh white breadcrumbs

  5. 1 tsp lemon juice

  6. 1 egg beaten with a tsp of water

  7. Use two-thirds of the shortcrust pastry to line a 9-inch pie pan.

  8. Crimp the edges with a fork.

  9. Mix the syrup, breadcrumbs and lemon juice and spread them over

  10. the pastry. Roll out the remaining pastry, cut it into 1/4 inch

  11. strips and form a lattice top over the filling. Brush the pastry

  12. 350F for 10 minutes. Reduce

  13. 300F and bake for another

  14. 20-25 minutes, or until filling

  15. is slightly set. Serve hot.
