  1. YAM CHILI

  2. 40 oz can yams/sweet potatoes

  3. 29 oz can tomato puree

  4. 1 to 2 cups dried beans

  5. 1/4 cup barbecue sauce

  6. 1 Tbs. dehydrated onion

  7. 1 tsp black pepper

  8. 1 Tbs. chili powder

  9. 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  10. Cook up the beans normally (soak, boil, simmer).

  11. Pour yams into pot, including liquid. Smash lightly. Add tomato

  12. puree, stir through. Add spices, stir through. Add cooked beans,

  13. stir through. Simmer for for a few minutes to mellow out.

  14. Note: I keep a 'bean bucket' of mixed beans, usually including pea beans, black-eyed peas, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, navy

  15. beans, pinto beans; often including great northern beans, roman

  16. beans, pink beans, chili beans, barley, and others. Whenever

  17. there's room in the bucket I pour in a bag of something that seems

  18. underrepresented.
