  1. 4 cups 948ml Chicken broth

  2. 1 cup 237ml Water

  3. 1 cup 62g / 2 1/5oz Chopped onions

  4. 1 cup 110g / 3.9oz Chopped carrots

  5. 1/2 cup 55g / 1.9oz Chopped celery

  6. 1/3 cup 78ml Uncooked barley

  7. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Dried thyme leaves

  8. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Tumeric or saffron

  9. 2 cups 125g / 4.4oz Cubed cooked chicken

  10. 1/4 cup 36g / 1 1/3oz Chopped fresh parsley

  1. Recipe Instructions In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients except chicken and parsley. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 35 to 40 minutes or until barley is tender. Add chicken and parsley, cooking until thoroughly heated. This recipe yields about 2 quarts.
