  1. 1/2 cup corn oil

  2. 1/2 cup corn syrup

  3. 1/2 cup brown sugar

  4. 1 cup milk, sweet or sour

  5. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  6. 3 cups bread flour

  7. 1/2 cup Argo or Kingsfords Cornstarch

  8. 1- 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

  9. 1/2 teaspoon ginger

  10. 1/2 teaspoon cloves

  11. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

  12. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  13. 1 cup chopped nut meats, any kind except peanuts

  14. 1/4 cup chopped dates

  15. 1/4 cup chopped figs

  16. 1/4 cup chopped raisins

  1. Instructions Combine the ingredients in the order given, mixing the fruits and nuts with the flour and cornstarch. The mixture will be quite stiff. Transfer to a mould well oiled with corn oil, cover closely and steam four hours. Serve with lemon sauce. This can be prepared several weeks ahead and re-steamed for an hour.
