  2. Strawberry Cream Pie

  6. 1 Each 9-inch baked pie crust

  7. 1/2 Cup almond slivers

  8. 1 Each Recipe Cream Filling

  9. 2 1/2 Cups Fresh strawberries

  10. 1/2 Cup Water

  11. 1/4 Cup Sugar

  12. 2 Teaspoons Cornstarch

  13. Few drops red food coloring

  14. --CREAM FILLING--

  15. 1/2 Cup Sugar

  16. 3 Tablespoons Cornstarch

  17. 3 Tablespoons Enriched flour

  18. 1/2 Teaspoon Salt

  19. 2 Cups Milk

  20. 1 Each Egg -- slightly beaten

  21. 1/2 Cup Heavy cream -- whipped

  22. 1 Teaspoon Vanilla

  23. Directions for Cream Filling: Mix first 4 ingredients. Gradually stir in milk.

  24. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil; reduce heat and cook and stir till

  25. thick. Stir a little of hot mixture into egg; return to remaining hot mixture.

  26. Bring just to boiling, stirring constantly.

  27. Cool, then chill. Beat well; fold in whipped cream and vanilla.

  28. Directions for pie: Toast almonds until lightly browned, then sprinkle over the

  29. bottom of the cooled pie crust. Fill crust with chilled Cream Filling. Halve

  30. 2 cups of the strawberries. Pile atop filling.

  31. 1/2 cup berries; add water; cook

  32. 2 minutes; sieve. Mix

  33. sugar and cornstarch; gradually stir in berry juice. Cook, and stir till thick

  34. and clear. Tint to desired color with food coloring. Cool slightly; pour over

  35. halved strawberries. Keep refrigerated till serving time. Pass whipped cream,

  36. if desired.
