  1. 1 pound ground beef

  2. 1 cup chopped green bell pepper

  3. 1 chopped onion

  4. 1 clove garlic -- minced

  5. 16 ounces tomatoes

  6. 6 ounces tomato sauce

  7. 12 ounces canned corn -- drained

  8. 1 can black pitted olives -- sliced, drained

  9. 1 tablespoon sugar

  10. 1 teaspoon salt

  11. 1 dash pepper

  12. 3 teaspoons chili powder

  13. 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese -- grated

  14. 3 cups cold milk

  15. 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  1. Preparation : Brown first four ingredients together. Drain fat and add tomatoes, tomato sauce, corn, olives, sugar, salt, chili powder, and pepper. Simmer 20 minutes until thick. Add cheese and stir until melted. Pour into 9 x 13 pan. Make corn meal topping by heating milk in double boiler, add 1 teaspoon salt and slowly stir in cornmeal. Cook and stir until thick; add 1 tablespoon butter and spread over top of meat mixture. Bake at 375*F for 40 minutes. In meat mixture, for 20 minute simmering time, I added about 1/3 c. cracked wheat and simmer same length of time.
