  1. 1 cup sugar

  2. 1/2 cup butter or margarine -- melted

  3. 2 eggs

  4. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  5. 213 cups all-purpose flour

  6. 1/2 cup baking cocoa

  7. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  9. 1/2 cup vanilla chips

  10. 1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts or almonds

  1. Preparation : In a bowl, whisk together sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, co- coa, baking powder and salt; add to sug- ar mixture and mix well. Stir in vanilla chips and nuts. Spread into a greased 8- in. square baking pan. Bake at 350o for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick in- serted near the center comes out with moist crumbs (do not overbake). Cool on a wire rack. Cut into diamond shapes if desired.
