  1. 6 Tart apples

  2. 1 cup 198g / 7oz Sugar

  3. 1/4 teaspoon 1 1/3ml Ground cloves

  4. 1/2 teaspoon 2 1/2ml Cinnamon

  5. 2 teaspoons 10ml Lemon juice

  6. 3/4 cup 46g / 1.6oz Sifted flour

  7. 1/8 teaspoon 0.6ml Salt

  8. 6 tablespoons 90ml Butter

  9. 1/4 cup 36g / 1 1/3oz Chopped nuts Whipped cream or ice cream

  1. Recipe Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel, core and slice apples into a bowl. Add 1/2 of the sugar, the spices and lemon juice. Mix lightly and pour into a buttered 1 1/2-quart casserole. Blend the remaining sugar, flour, salt and butter to a crumbly consistency. Add the nuts and sprinkle over the apple mixture. Bake 45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is nicely browned. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
