  1. 1 large potato per person, plus a few extras

  2. Vegetable oil

  3. Salt

  4. Butter

  5. Sour cream

  6. Grated Cheddar cheese

  7. Bacon, fried crisp, drained, crumbled

  1. Baked potatoes bar Preheat the oven to 180C/Gas 4.

  2. Scrub the potatoes and pat dry. Rub the skin with vegetable oil then sprinkle with salt.

  3. Pierce the skin of each potato in several places with the tines of a fork. Place on a baking tray and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, until the sides are soft when pressed.

  4. Place in a chafing dish and serve with bowls of butter, sour cream, grated Cheddar cheese and crumbled fried bacon.
