  1. 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened

  2. 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese or any cheese you prefer

  3. 1/2 cup fresh basil, thinly sliced

  4. 2 garlic cloves, minced

  5. 1 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper

  6. 12 sourdough bread slices or hearty wheat bread

  7. 4 avocados, peeled and sliced

  8. 1 24 oz package thick-sliced bacon, cooked

  9. 6 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced

  10. 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

  1. Stir together first 5ingredients, and spread mixture evenly on bread slices.

  2. Layer 6 bread slices evenly with avocado, bacon, and tomato;

  3. top with remaining bread slices.

  4. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook sandwiches, 2at a time, until golden, turning once.
