  1. APPLE BUTTER CAKE

  2. 3 cups flour

  3. 1 1/2 tsp soda

  4. 3/4 tsp salt

  5. 3/4 tsp nutmeg

  6. 3/4 tsp cinnamon

  7. 3/4 tsp ground cloves

  8. 3/4 cup softened butter or margarine

  9. 1 1/4 cups sugar

  10. 3 eggs

  11. 1/2 cup buttermilk

  12. 1 1/2 cups apple butter

  13. 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine

  14. 1/4 cup evaporated milk

  15. 2 tsp vanilla

  16. 1 lb. (4 cups) powdered sugar

  17. Stir together flour, soda, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ground

  18. 3/4 cup

  19. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine buttermilk and apple butter.

  20. Add alternately with the flour mixture, mixing well after each 2 greased

  21. 9" round pans or one

  22. 9x13" pan.

  23. 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from layer pans.

  24. Cool on cake rack. Frost cooled cake with creamy vanilla frosting, made as follows:

  25. In small mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup butter, evaporated milk,

  26. vanilla and powdered sugar. Mix until frosting is smooth and shiny.

  27. If too thick, add a few drops of evaporated milk.
