  7. 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice

  8. 3/4 cup white sugar

  9. 7 cups sliced apples

  10. 3 tablespoons cornstarch

  11. 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

  12. 1/4 teaspoon salt

  13. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  14. 1 baked pie shell

  15. 2 cups whipped cream

  16. chopped macadamia nuts

  17. 1 In large saucepan, combine l l/

  18. 4 cup pineapple juice and sugar.

  19. Bring to a boil, and add apples. Cover, and simmer until apples are tender

  20. but not soft - 3

  21. Combine cornstarch with remaining 1/2 cup pineapple juice, and add to syrup in

  22. pan. Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly; cook one minute more.

  23. Remove pan from heat. Stir butter or margarine, vanilla, and salt into the

  24. 10 minutes without stirring.

  25. 3 Pour about half of the syrup into baked pie shell, spreading it to cover bottom evenly. Arrange cooked apples

  26. over syrup in crust. Spoon remaining syrup over apples. Chill. Garnish with

  27. whipped cream and chopped macadamia nuts. Makes 1 pie
