  7. 2 medium onions chopped

  8. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  9. 6 tablespoons butter

  10. 1 can sauerkraut --

  11. 1 bag medium-wide egg noodles --

  12. Saute onions in oil plus 2 tablespoons of the butter over low heat until

  13. lightly browned 3-4 minutes.

  14. Meanwhile, put sauerkraut in strainer and rinse with 1/2 cup water. Drain,

  15. squeezing out excess liquid. Add sauerkraut to onions, mixing well.

  16. Boil noodles according to package directions but cook only for 5 minutes.

  17. Drain then add remaining 4 tablespoons butter.

  18. Add noodles to sauerkraut mixture, stirring to mix well. Spoon into 2

  19. 1/2-3-quart casserole or dish. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  20. when ready to bake, remove from refrigerator and bring to room temperature.

  21. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dot casserole with butter. Bake in preheated
