  1. 1 1/2 cups granburger

  2. 1 1/4 cups hot water corn oil

  3. 1/2 cup green pepper

  4. 1/2 cup onion

  5. 1 clove garlic -- pressed

  6. 1 can whole kernel corn --

  7. 12oz 1 can tomato paste --

  8. 6oz 1 1/2 cups water

  9. 1 teaspoon salt

  10. 1 teaspoon chili powder -- optional

  11. 2 teaspoons sugar

  12. 4 ounces grated american cheese

  13. 3/4 cup cornmeal

  14. 1/2 teaspoon salt

  15. 2 cups cold water

  1. Preparation : Rehydrate granburger in 1 1/4 cups hot water for 10 minutes. Pour a little corn oil into a large skillet. Saute green pepper, onion, garlic and rehydrated granburger in the oil till vegetables are tender. Add corn, tomato paste, 1 1/2 cups water, salt, chili powder, and sugar. Simmer for 10 minutes. ADd cheese. Stir till cheese is melted. Pour granburger mixture into a 2 quart casserole. In a sauce pan, stir together cornmeal, salt, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring till mixture is thickened - about 10 minutes. Spoon cornmeal mixture over granburger mixture in the casserole. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes. As a variation, substitute 2 cups crushed corn chips for the cornmeal mixture. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 15 minutes.
