  1. 1 cup basmati rice (washed)

  2. 1 cup sprout (green beans)

  3. 2 medium sized tomatoes finely chopped

  4. 2 cup water(warm)

  5. 2 bay leaves

  6. 1 stick of cinnamon

  7. 4 cloves

  8. 2 cardamom

  9. 8-10 cashew nuts

  10. 6-8 curry leaves

  11. 0 1/2 teaspoon jeera

  12. 1 teaspoon garam masala

  13. 1 teaspoon goda masala ( marathi kalamasala)

  14. 1 ttsp sambhar

  15. 1 tsp ghee

  16. salt to taste

  1. Fry the above masalas in a dry pan and powder them.

  2. Mix Rice and Dal and cook in cooker.

  3. Heat oil in a pan, fry onions till brown, add cut boiled potatoes and peas, can also add brinjal.

  4. Add tamarind powder and 1/2 cup water and salt and the ground masala powder.

  5. Let it boil.

  6. Now add cooked rice and dal and mix well. Remove from flame.

  7. Fry the coconuts till brown and powder them.

  8. Garnish with chopped coriander, fried cashews and powdered coconuts.

  9. Serve hot with Onion Raita and Pappads
