  1. 1 3-lb chuck roast

  2. 1 tbsp shortening

  3. 4 oz. mushrooms , sliced

  4. 1 small onion , chopped

  5. 1/2 cup ketchup

  6. 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

  7. 2 tsp salt

  8. 1 tsp caraway seeds

  9. 1/4 tsp pepper

  10. 1 cup beef stock

  11. 2 tbsp butter

  12. 2 tbsp flour

  13. 1 cup sour cream

  1. Preparation:

  2. Heat shortening in skillet and brown meat on all sides Combine other ingredients except last three in crock-pot and add browned meat.

  3. Cook on low for 8 hrs.

  4. Remove meat from cooker and keep warm.

  5. In saucepan, melt butter and add flour and 1/2 cup juices from cooker.. Blend, then add sour cream. Return to cooker and stir well.

  6. Pour sauce over meat Note: Serve over egg noodles, rice or alongside mashed potatoes and red cabbage!
