  1. Cooked long grain rice 2 Cup (32 tbs)

  2. Tamarind paste 2 Tablespoon

  3. Split black gram 1 Teaspoon (urad dal)

  4. Split bengal gram 1 Teaspoon (chana dal)

  5. Mustard seeds 1 Teaspoon

  6. Cumin seeds 1 Teaspoon

  7. Asafoetida 12 Teaspoon

  8. Groundnuts 2 Tablespoon

  9. Turmeric powder 12 Teaspoon

  10. Dried red chili 3

  11. Green chilli 2 Medium , splited

  12. Oil 2 Tablespoon

  13. Curry leaves 10

  14. Salt To Taste

  1. Directions Heat oil in a pan or kadhai.

  2. Add urad dal,chana dal and cook it till it turns light brown.

  3. Now add asafoetida ,mustard seeds,cumin seeds and let it crackle.

  4. Add curry leaves ,red chilies,split green chilies and saute it for a minute.

  5. Add groundnuts and cook it for another minute.

  6. Now add turmeric powder,salt and tamarind paste.

  7. Cook the mixture till rawness of tamrind vanishes ( when tamarind paste is cooked ,oil will come on the sides of the pan).

  8. Add rice and mix it all well and cover and let it stand for a minute or two.

  9. Serve it hot.

  10. TIPS:

  11. As i had said that in this recipe i had used tamarind paste to make it easy .but you can make it by extracting pulp from tamarind which is bit tedious job but it is worth it.

  12. Making Tamarind Pulp:

  13. Soak the tamarind for around half an hour in water and extract the juice avoiding pulp and seeds.
