  1. 1 cup butter -- softened

  2. 2 cups sugar

  3. 4 large eggs

  4. 1 cup all-purpose flour

  5. 1/4 cup cocoa

  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  7. 2 cups 12 oz. 1 cup chopped pecans

  1. Preparation : * Beat butter and sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating until blended after each addition. * Stir together flour and cocoa; gradually add to butter mixture, beating at low speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla. If desired, fold in milk chocolate morsels and pecans. * Pour batter into a lightly greased 13 x 9-inch pan. * Bake at 350 degrees for 22 to 25 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly in pan on a wire rack. Cut into squares, and serve warm.
